BAY HARBOR: WHERE TO EAT

As we all know, Bay Harbor Islands is the home some of some of the best restaurants in Miami, so we decided to cherry-pick our favorites and put them on an easy-to-read guide so you can enjoy the best food Miami has to offer:

1.    Asia Bay

Located just a few blocks west of the Bal Harbour Shops, Asia Bay Bistro is the perfect spot for lunch or dinner when you are in Bay Harbor Islands. This quaint little restaurant boasts the freshest selection of fresh fish, as well as an extensive “cooked food” menu for those not into eating raw. With roughly 50 seats, Asia Bay Bistro's warm and intimate interior can best be described as “minimalist-chic.” Prices are very affordable, and Asia Bay Bistro serves up delicious lunch specials during the workweek. Some of the best dishes include the ever-popular Spicy Tuna Rock appetizer, which is a tower of rice, seaweed, and a mix of tuna, scallions, avocado, masago, tempura flakes, and spicy mayo. The Fuji Roll is a great choice if you’re craving sushi: tuna, cucumber, scallions inside with chopped tuna mixed with avocado, wasabi tobiko, masago and kimchi sauce on top. If you’re looking for a cooked entrée, try the Pad Thai, served traditional style with mixed veggies and your choice of chicken, shrimp or beef.

2.    O’lima

The former Le Pine space is now an elegant 53-seat dining room with soft pendant lighting, white table clothed tables and carved wooden sculptures. A handful of outdoor patio seats are nicely buffered from Kane Concourse traffic. The dishes feature Peruvian fusion with Japanese influences. The epic menu features dozens of starters and about 20 entrees. Definitely ask servers for guidance. Prices skew to high-end with starters averaging about $16 and mains in the high $20s

3.    Open Kitchen

A quaint bistro and catering kitchen in Bay Harbor Islands. The tiny storefront doubles as a lunch café and small gourmet market stocked with Italian pasta, truffle oil, sun-dried tomatoes, boutique wines and beer and a robust take-home menu. Prices are neighborhood-friendly with sandwiches and salads averaging $10 and mains $13-$15. Sandwiches include a pork belly BLT and turkey meatloaf with chunky tomato basil sauce. Pasta of the day could be orecchiette with arugula pesto topped with fresh mozzarella while heartier main dishes include roasted chicken and braised short ribs and sides are healthy servings of quinoa, pink lentil salad and roasted vegetables. The family-style take-out catering menu includes hefty pans of meatloaf, grilled chicken and ponzu-marinated fish.  Make sure to try the homemade chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, made with a light touch.

4.    Emilios Trattoria
